Santa Barbara County Food Map

Our aim with this food map is not only to raise awareness, but also to simply inform the community of all the locations one can procure fresh, local organic produce within Santa Barbara county.  Gifted with an idyllic climate, and a growing season that approaches 52 weeks a year in some areas, we live in an area in which we are lucky enough to be able to enjoy local, delicious produce, from the farm straight to your plate.
Through visually displaying the locations, hours, and contact information of all farmer’s markets, CSA’s (Community Supported Agriculture), and farm stands in the county, we can effectively inform and hopefully persuade the public to begin supporting the local farming community, and encourage concerned citizens to begin to think more deeply about where their food comes from, how it was produced, and the effect that this has on the environment and society.
Supporting your local agricultural economy is not only a way to enjoy the freshest (and possibly tastiest) produce, but it truly is putting your money where your beliefs are. One of the most powerful statements we can make is where we spend our hard earned dollars, and dissenting from the traditional industrial agricultural system through purchasing locally and organically is a way to begin to change the way we eat, and to bring it just a little closer to home.
We hope that this map will influence where people choose to buy their fruits and vegetables in Santa Barbara County, and act as not only a guide but as an instrument of change, as the current mainstream
agricultural practices are in no way sustainable. Support your local farmers, eat the best tasting produce, and utilize this map to it’s fullest potential!
